In June 2011 the LGMC presented SOUND, an aural adventure, at The union Chapel. The concert was a pioneering collection of vocals taking the audience on an aural adventure, across a rousing range of repertoire.
Featuring their trademark mix of fabulous pop hits and stunning classical pieces, the LGMC’s flagship summer concert focused on the development of music’s fundamental component - SOUND.
Accompanied by special guests including physical theatre company, movers12 and The London Bulgarian Choir, the concert provided a memorable adventure through an eclectic soundtrack ranging from the traditional, the classical, to the plain fun! From Verdi’s shattering Dies Irae and Bjork’s hip-hop influenced Triumph Of The Heart to the Bollywood spectacular Chaiyya Chiayya/Jai Ho from Slumdog Millionaire.
The movers12 performance of Carousel with The London Gay Men's Chorus at SOUND has since been submitted as their entry to The Sadler's Wells Global Dance Competition where, if successful, we look forward to working with them again. Here they are!
SOUND was movers12’s first performance outside of Old Vic New Voices. Towards the end of 2010 the OVNV put on a production at the Old Vic Tunnels that involved a cast of 60 Londoners from all walks of life. Within this group there were 12 people who worked with renowned physical theatre company Frantic Assembly on the movement within the production. Their experience of working together had such a positive effect on them that they decided they wanted to carry on working together and formed all-inclusive physical theatre company movers12.
In the run up to SOUND the boys from the Chorus sang live on Out In South London, presented by comedian Rosie Wilby and reporter Suzi Ruffell. In case you missed it, here it is!
